The Japanese sprinter took the Asian continental title in 20.23. Yang Chun-Han of Chinese Taipei was second, while another Japanese athlete Ueyama Koki finished third.
Uzawa Towa of Japan claimed the gold medal in the men’s 200m final on Sunday 16 July at the Asian Athletics Championships 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 20-year-old national champion in the event, who also clocked the fastest time in the semi-finals, ran 20.23 in the final.
Silver medallist and 2017 Asian champion Yang Chun-Han sprinted to the finish in a time of 20.48. Third place finisher Ueyama Koki, who was Japan’s national champion last year, finished in 20.53.
Shanti Pereira of Singapore won the women’s 200m final in 22.70. Earlier this week, the 26-year-old Singaporean also claimed the 100m title to become her country’s first Asian athletics champion.
In the 200m event, Jyothi Yarraji of India finished in second place while Li Yuting of People’s Republic of China wrapped up the podium.
The Asian Athletics Championships 2023 concludes on Sunday 16 July.
