AUKUS Formation Increases Spying = Defense Industry Targets, Through Online-Australia

[Sydney Jiji] Australian Security Intelligence Organization (ASIO) Secretary Burgess said in the annual threat assessment compiled by the 22nd that the defense industry would be targeted after the formation of the security cooperation framework “AUKUS” with the United States and the United Kingdom. It revealed that there was a “significant increase” in espionage.

　In September 2021, the United States, Britain, and Australia will reach an agreement on the AUKUS framework. Based on this, the Australian government is proceeding with plans to introduce nuclear submarines. Burgess didn’t give a specific number of espionage cases, but said there was a spike in online attempts to steal information from people working in the defense industry.
