A Filipina was found dead in a river in Sabah over a week ago, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Saturday.
The body of Madelyn Bernardo Asuncion was found floating in the Pengalan river in Melalap by a plantation worker last Nov. 28 according to the Philippine Embassy in Malaysia.
Philippine Ambassador to Malaysia Charles Jose said the Embassy was informed that there was enough evidence to classify the case as a possible homicide.
Asuncion, according to the DFA, hails from Zamboanga City and has been staying with her father in Malaysia for over a decade.
Her father helped authorities identify her remains, the DFA said. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results, it said.
