Hong Kong/China (30/12). Civil Human Rights Front’s convener, Jimmy Sham held a media conference today after police issued a letter of no objection to the New Year’s rally on 1st January. He has told the police that they should not hoist black flag and deploy tear gas rounds before the rally commences as a similar incident took place earlier this month.
However, police warned that if protesters start to vandalise any shops on 1st January, they will not hesitate to arrest the perpetrators. The Hong Kong Police warnings are in response to the extreme violence following an attempt by the protesters to snatch a police rifle in a crowded shopping mall. “We have a zero tolerance police when it comes to protesters attempt to grab firearms and God forbid manage to fire the rifle into the crowd.” said one officer at the scene.
Protesters will gather at 2pm at Victoria Park before starting to march at 3pm. However, they may start to march earlier if there are too many participants.
Meanwhile, the caption of an online poster made by CHRF was modified to say ‘Don’t forget to revenge, vandalise the city!’. Police have sought clarification from CHRF and they denied any involvement in altering their original picture.
Meanwhile, several gatherings known as “Suck the Eve” and “Shop with you” are scheduled for New Year’s Eve around the city tomorrow, including Lan Kwai Fong, Victoria Park and various shopping malls.
Who holds CHRF responsible?
The riot demonstrations are regularly organized by the CHRF hence the excuse by the gay activist Jimmy Sham, who was attacked on previous occasions, poses the question when will be the leadership of the violent protesters held accountable.
The notion the CHRF is “only” a democratic forum is false. The militant leaders, faction and interests of a self-serving elites are substituted with other agendas bordering on seditions. “The simplicity of denial is part of the strategy to appear democratic”, said a visiting professor from the University of Bristol, “But they are not”, he added. “Political violence is not like a water faucet. Once started you cannot simply turn it off on command. Once radicalized the path to choice violence is easier than democratic means”.
In the minds of the violent extremists their singular purpose of existence is not achieved. Reports from an variety of sources within the extremists are calling for the need to be prepared and 2020 will be just more violence coming. The phrase “better prepared” was is the new slogan.
An variety of anarchist websites and YouTube accounts surfaced showing the violence against the police as justifiable. The political elite is unable to control the rioter as they serve the pressure lever against the extremists.
In comparison to other insurgencies the level of violence is reaching a tipping point. Whereas the protest appear to be smaller the recent shopping mall attack shown distinctive patterns of setting traps for police officer for being attacked. Violent attacks are only a question of time rendering the argument by the leaders for the protesters no longer credible.
“Once the fear is lost, and the act of destruction or violence goes unpunished, the radical is easily emboldened, easily stimulated by the peers in the group to isolate themselves and develop a group thinking that they get away with the violence. What stops them? Nothing. Until a life is lost or they are arrested. Only that the cold truth sets in that violence is not a game.”, a Dutch academic said in an off record interview.
“The political leaders have a terrible choice to make.”, he added, “Tolerate the damage that the extremists cause or stop it by force. The choices are bleak if you deal with protests who opt for violence rather than talk.”.
The violence left unchecked will escalate in brutality and disregard for the next door citizen. The horrific events of November 30th in Mong Kok and Christmas Eve are just a manifestation of the lawlessness are on the increase. The horrific attack against the lonely Hong Kong citizen clearing a strip of road and the mob beating are just some of the growing number of incidents loss of life was merely avoided.
“Hong Kong is becoming a Mecca for the leftist radicals who left lost credibility in Europe”, an expert on radical movements said.
The rise in direct confrontation with the police repeated attempts to snatch weapons, the discovery of fully functionally automatic military style AR-15 assault weapons and a series of modern Glock handguns as well as large amounts of ammunitions are besides the increase in physical violence are troubling trends.
Expert agree the violence will continue with the extremist already warn of a wave of action in the New Year. It’s about time the authorities crack down return Hong Kong to normality.
