Myanmar U-23 team played a goalless draw against Albriex Niigata Singapore FC during their friendly soccer match on Saturday at Thuwunna stadium.
“I’m satisfied with our players’ performances but our team still needs more fitness for AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers,” said Myanmar head coach Velizar Popov after the friendly match.
Myanmar will host the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship qualification’s group (I) matches scheduled to be held from March 22-26 at Thuwunna stadium.
This friendly match is a part of preparation for the AFC qualifiers.
“Our team played the best. Especially, we could dominate in first half of the match. And second half, I made a lot of substitutions to give chance for all players. That’s why we saw fresh performances from young players, “Velizar Popov told the local media. Albriex Niigata Singapore FC is Singapore premier league champion team.
Despite host Myanmar could have dominated the game and created goal opportunities in first half, Albriex Niigata Singapore’s keeper and defenders have steady form as a fort. And Myanmar continued to try for winning goal but visiting team could control Myanmar’s attack until final whistle. Myanmar U-23 competed the AFF U-22 Championship in preparation for AFC qualification last month in Cambodia but they got just one point in the group stage. In the 2020 AFC U-23 Championship qualification, Myanmar has been in Group (I) with Japan, Macau and Timor-Leste.
