South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas has “made clear” there will be a domestic component to the AUKUS nuclear submarines, according to Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell.
“The South Australian Premier Peter Malinauskas had met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles at the Parliament to discuss the AUKUS nuclear submarines agreement, that’s set to be announced in the next month, we think in the US,” he told Sky News Australia.
“We have also reported that the British newspaper, The Sun, has claimed the first two of eight nuclear submarines delivered to Australia, or made for Australia, might be British-made.
“Well today the South Australian Premier made clear that there will be a domestic component to the manufacturing of the submarines and he actually called it a 100-year program.”
